    Over the weekend, the Hawks faced off against the Cobras on March 13th and 14th for a two-day, four-game conference series. Heartland traveled to Parkland on the first day before returning to the Corn Crib on Saturday to finish out the series.

Dylan Nagle started on the bump for Heartland, throwing two innings, giving up 12 runs on 10 hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
Michael Belbot came in for relief for 1.1 innings, only giving up four hits, two walks, and striking out two through 13 batters. Coming in to close for the Hawks, sophomore
Dylan Feldkamp is facing a single batter, collecting a strikeout. Leading the Hawks at the plate was third basemen, Tyler Pippen, with two hits, two runs, and a walk through his three at-bats. Also adding two hits to the mix, middle infielders
TJ Jakubowski and
Jimmy Anderson. Showing patience at the plate, designated hitter
Dom Kooistra and catcher
Daniel Bastidas had two walks. The Hawks took the loss in game one, 6-23.
    Game two was a battle at the plate with the Hawks and Cobras adding runs in nearly every inning. Leading the charge at the plate was sophomore
Jake Troyner, who had not only a multiple-hit game but also added multiple home runs. The five-hole hitter had a three-run HR in the first to put the Hawks up and added a solo homerun in the top of the fifth. Troyner scored three times with four RBIs and a walk to end the day. Kooistra added another two walks to his season total of seven. Once again, the middle infielders Jakubowski and Anderson had a hit each. Rounding out the five-hit game was outfielder
Cal Darling, with one hit in his two at-bats. On the mound to start things off, #37 Kasey Griffen stepped to the mound for 1.2 innings, allowing three hits with one strikeout. Following his performance, sophomore
Jake Gimbel stayed on the mound for three innings, facing 19 batters. The right-handed pitcher gave up three hits and three free bases while also retiring four batters. Finishing things out for the pitching staff, #18
Andy Antonacci threw the last inning. The freshman faced five batters without allowing a run and added a strikeout to finish out the day. The Hawks fell 6-9 and were ready to bring the Cobras to the Corn Crib to complete the series.
    After the two losses in the first two games of the series, the Hawks bounced back quickly as they wasted no time in getting ahead of Parkland College. The seven-inning game started out with a walk from leadoff batter,
Bennett Summers, as he advanced to second on a groundout from
Jimmy Anderson. As the designated hitter, Kooistra found himself on base, and
Daniel Bastidas hit a sharp line drive to left to score both runners. Bastidas led the team at the plate with two hits, both hits resulting in a double, in three at-bats with five RBIs. Kooistra stayed consistent, adding another two walks and two runs for the offense.
Trevor Rehnstrom stepped on the mount for Heartland. He surrendered eight hits and five runs in his 6.2 innings, striking out five.
Tyler Ledvina came in for relief, facing the final batter of game one, and secured the win for the Hawks. The team won, staying ahead of the Cobras 6-5, and kept the bats going in the second game.
    In the first inning of the second game started strong with a leadoff single by Summers. Anderson added runs to the board with an inside-the-park homerun to get up two. In the bottom of the third, Summers started things off once again, getting on first. Anderson added another RBI with a single to center as he led the team with two hits, two walks, three RBIs, and three runs. Tyler Pippen and Summers added two hits apiece to the team's total of nine.
Ryan Anderson was the game two starter, where he went four innings without allowing a run with only two hits through 15 batters. The right-handed sophomore retired five batters and gave up two free bases. Devin Tupper came in for 1.2 innings with two earned runs and a strikeout. Freshman
Tyler Dowling also came in for 1.2 innings, giving up three hits and no runs. The right-hander faced nine, striking out a third of the batters faced. Once again, Ledvina came in to close, pitching the rest of the final game of the weekend. The lefty gave up one hit, one run, and struck out two to end the series.
    The Hawks take the rest of the weekend before returning to the Corn Crib on Monday, March 16th, to face Moline's Black Hawk College for a double header under the lights.
