Baseball Set to Host Central District Tournament May 16-18

After defeating Spoon River College to win the Region 24 Tournament Pod A, the Heartland baseball team will now advance to the NJCAA Central District Tournament, which will be held Thursday through Saturday at The Corn Crib. The Hawks, who enter the tournament ranked No. 5 in the latest NJCAA DII baseball rankings, will welcome fellow Region 24 members Illinois Central College and NJCAA DII No. 14-ranked Parkland College to the tournament. Region 16 winner East Central (MO) will be the fourth team featured in the double-elimination event.

The Hawks (39-15) will face-off with ICC (25-33) at Noon on Thursday to begin the three-day event. ICC swept John Wood and Lincoln Land to win the Region 24 Pod C Championship. The two teams battled in a four-game series in late March, with the Hawks taking three of four games.

Parkland College (40-13) will play against East Central (37-19) at 3 pm in the second game of the day Thursday. The Cobras defeated Danville Area and Lewis & Clark to win the Region 24 Pod B Championship. East Central was the Region 16 Championship winner after a 6-5 victory over North Central Missouri College on Saturday.

All three days of the tournament will be streamed at this link. Admission to the tournament will be $5. For more information, please click here.
