Box Score 2 In day two of their Florida trip, baseball met up with Jackson College for a double-header. The Jets, from Jackson, Mississippi, ended their 2021 season with a record of 31-13-1.
In game one, the Hawks would get down five runs to none. A three-run sixth inning would bring the Hawks within two, but the Jets would add two more runs in the seventh and eventually take home a 7-4 win over the Hawks.
Sam Antonacci belted his fifth homerun of the season in game one.
Game one starter,
Teague Conrad would go 3.2 innings for the Hawks. Conrad allowed five earned runs while picking up five strikeouts. Coming in relief for Conrad, freshman
Jason Buhl would allow two earned runs while striking out seven over 3.1 innings in his Heartland debut.
The Hawks would bounce back in game two thanks to a four RBI day from freshman,
Mason Sawyer. Sawyer, picked up his first homerun as a Hawk while chipping in two runs scored. Freshman,
Auston Brewer, also chipped in an RBI triple.
Game two starter,
Kieran Schmitz would allow just one earned run over 5.1 innings of work. The sophomore would also pick up eight strikeouts as he earned his first win of the season. Coming in relief for Schmitz, sophomore
Luke Skudlarczyk, would throw 1.2 innings to send the Hawks home with a 6-3 win and series split. The Hawks are now 5-4 on the season.
The Hawks are back in action tomorrow for a 9 inning game against Glen Oaks Community College. First pitch is set for 9 AM ET.
