Box Score 3 On the second day of the Florida trip baseball and softball each picked up a win. Baseball earned their fourth win of the season as they defeated Owens Community College 10-2. Softball would finish the day with one win and one loss.
In their first game of the trip, baseball faced off against Owens Community College in a 9 inning game. The Express, hailing from Perrysburg, Ohio, finished their 2021 season with a record of 35-15. The Express would get out to an early 2-0 lead, but the Hawks would score ten unanswered runs to take home a 10-2 win.
The Hawks' offense would rack up 12 hits and score seven runs in the top of the ninth. Leading the offense with three hits and an RBI was freshman,
Sam Antonacci.
Jacyk Uehling,
Tyler Brandenburg and
Bryce Brown would each pick up two hits in the win. Chipping in three RBIs and picking up his first hit as a Hawk was freshman,
Quinn Willard. Â
Starter,
Reese Dutton, would throw three innings in his first outing of the season. Dutton allowed two runs and struck out six in his sophomore season debut. Coming in relief and also making his first appearance of the season was sophomore,
Connor Aten. Aten would throw three scoreless innings for the Hawks, allowing just two hits while striking out five. Relieving Aten and also throwing three scoreless innings was freshman,
Jake Jakubowski. Jakubowski allowed just two hits and struck out six as he helped the Hawks earn a comeback win.Â
Softball would continue the action as they faced off against Monroe College in their third game of the trip. In game one of the day, the Hawks' offense put up 12 runs on 14 hits. The offense was led by sophomore,
Kloey Wheeler, who racked up 4 RBIs, 2 hits and 2 runs scored. Freshman,
Danielle Bogle also chipped in 3 RBIs, 2 hits and a run scored. Six Hawks had multiple hits in the dominating win over Monroe.Â
Sophomore,
Blair Jacobus threw four innings for the Hawks allowing just one earned run while racking up four strikeouts. Freshman,
Addisyn Miller would come in relief for Jacobus and throw two innings to secure the Hawks a 12-2 win in game one.Â
In game two, the Hawks would meet up once again with Muskegon Community College. The Hawks defeated the Jayhawks 8-1 in yesterday's meeting. The Jayhawks, however, would take home the win in today's matchup as the Hawks fell by a score of 8-2.
In game two, Miller picked up two hits and an RBI. Jacobus also had a hit and an RBI in the loss. Starting pitcher,
Kaci Shickel struck out six batters in her 3.1 innings of work.Â
Baseball is back in action tomorrow as they face off against Jackson College in a double-header set for 9 and 11:30 AM ET. Softball will play their final two games of the trip on Monday as they face off against Jackson College and Aquinas College at 10 AM and 12:30 PM.
