PREVIEW: Softball Hosts Rock Valley College in Home Opening Series

#10 ranked Hawks return home after red-hot week in Florida

NORMAL, Ill. - Softball returns to the Corn Crib tonight as the Hawks host the Rock Valley College Golden Eagles for the 2019 season home opener. The Hawks enter the home stand ranked #10 in NJCAA Division II national rankings.

Last week, the Hawks competed in the PFX Spring Games in Osceola, Florida, where they went 9-2. In those 11 games, the Hawks scored 113 runs and allowed only 27, with the largest run spread from an opponent coming from Rock Valley College, who beat the Hawks by four on March 13.

Players to Watch:

Maddie Mackey - Coming off a hot-streak in Florida where she hit four home runs, knocked in 13 runs, and recorded a .487 batting average, the third baseman looks to continue being a key player at the plate.

Jasmine McCormick - The Geneseo High School alum leads the Hawks in batting average, posting a .541 average at the plate with three home runs, 20 hits and nine RBIs.

Abbey Walsh - Leading the Hawks in the RBI column with 15 on the year, the Tuscola, Illinois native recorded five multi-RBI games last week in Florida.

This afternoon's double header begins at 3:00 PM at the Corn Crib in Normal, Illinois. You can watch the Hawks live at heartlandhawks.com/watch and follow along with all the action.
