Auburndale, FL. – Sophomore Garner Spoljaric (1-0) was given the opening start for the Hawks Florida spring trip against Lakeland Community College (Ohio). The sophomore was fantastic in his 5.0 innings of work striking out twelve with two walks and one earned run, setting himself up for the win. It was an eventful week for the Ontario native, as he committed to Stetson University later in the week.
The Hawks offense enjoyed some warmer weather putting up fifteen hits and fifteen runs on the way to a Hawks 15-9 win to open the trip.
The offensive attack was led by bench help to fill in for injuries, as redshirt freshman Tim Sullivan made the most of his opportunity going 4-for-5 with four RBI's, two doubles, and three runs scored.
Local products Miles Simington (2-for-4, 2B) and Billy Mote (3-for-6, 2 2B) had their way at the plate as well.

Games 4 & 5
Auburndale, FL. – Day three was a double header against Dakota County Tech College (Minnesota). The Hawks split the series, winning 9-1 and dropping the second game 2-1.
Redshirt freshman and University High School graduate Jake Armstrong (1-0) recorded his first win as a Hawk. Game two was a pitching duel as the Hawks offense was finally held in check. Freshman Luke Patzner had his first collegiate start, and looked comfortable on the mound. The freshman went 5.0 innings, striking out eight, and only giving up one run on four hits.
Freshman Chris Miller (0-1) took the tough loss, but had a quality outing. Miller worked 2.2 innings, striking out five with one walk, one hit, and one run.

Trailing 4-3 entering the final at-bat for the Hawks, Freshman Jake Marti led off the inning with a single to left center. Sam Olson's sacrifice bunt moved the speedy Marti into scoring position for Billy Mote. Mote's two-out single through the right side knotted the game at 4-4.
Miles Simington continued his hot week with the bat with a RBI double to left to make the contest 5-4 in favor of the Hawks. An error would allow two more runs to score in the top of the seventh bringing the score to 7-4 Hawks.
Freshman Tyler Willman (1-0) closed the game down in the bottom half. Willman was fantastic in his debut picking up the win in 3.0 innings, recording five strikeouts.
