On Saturday, April 19th, and Wednesday, April 23rd, the Hawks took on the Cobras in a four-game series matchup. Heartland hosted first, which led to the team fighting hard but coming up short in both contests. It wasn't until the trip to Champaign that the Hawks split the day and took the first game over Parkland.
In game one, the offense was hard to come by as the Hawks dropped the matchup 0-6 with four hits collected.
Bailey Brooks and
Kendall Lowery led the team going 1-for-2 with a walk each. The Cobras built their lead a few runs at a time after opening the scoring in the top of the first.
Kendyl Hurt took the loss for the Hawks going five innings, and allowing five runs (three earned) on seven hits. The righty struck out three batters and walked only one.
Tayla Eaves came in for the remaining two innings only allowing one run on two hits.
The Hawks turned around and got on board in the first inning of the second game as
Shayne Immke doubled to score a run. The teams continued to go back and forth until the top of the sixth when Parkland scored five runs on three hits making the final score 4-8 in favor of Parkland. At the plate,
Concetta DeBord, Hurt, and Immke each collected one hit.
Cara Farnam took the loss for the Hawks pitching all seven innings. The sophomore surrendered eight runs (five earned) on nine hits, striking out three and giving up two free bases.
Day two of the series started with a bang as

The team accumulated nine hits through 29 at-bats. Eaves earned the win at the plate going 5.1 innings with eight hits and four free bases allowed. Hurt came in for 1.2 innings with the save only allowing two hits and no runs. Immke and Farnam also showed up at the plate, collecting multiple hits each.
The final game of the series was another hitter duel until a walk-off left the Hawks on the wrong end of the 5-6 defeat. Immke put the Hawks on the board first with a home run in the first inning. The sophomore shortstop went 2-for3 with an additional homerun in the seventh inning. The team accumulated five hits and added three free bases.
