    The Heartland Volleyball team took a trip down south in the panhandle to Pensacola, Florida, where the Hawks participated in the Pensacola Premier. The team had two days of hard and gritty play, ending with the Hawks walking away with two wins and two losses. Their record increases to 29-4 as they head into the weekend to compete in the Region 24 & 4 crossover in Champaign, IL.
    The first day of matches had the Enterprise State Community College Bull Weevils and Gulf Coast State College Commodores set to face the Hawks. Enterprise came out ready to play with a lot of intensity as they came out on top with the first match going 1-3 (25-22, 21-25, 20-25, 20-25) in favor of the Weevils. Shortly after, Heartland volleyball took the court for its first ranked match-up of the tournament against #6 Gulf Coast. After very intense back-and-forth play, the Hawks were unable to pull ahead as they dropped their 4th loss 2-3 (23-25, 18-25, 25-16, 26-24, 13-15). Aside from the final scores, the Hawks put up a strong fight and consistently showed their abilities on the court.
Brooklyn Brennan added 82 assists and two aces to the matches. Libero
Sam Molenhouse contributed 48 digs on the first day. Rounding things out defensively were sophomores
Halle Moomaw and
Libby Detweiler with 12 and 10 blocks, respectively. On the offensive side,
Addison Pacha led the charge for the Hawks with 27 kills, and
Graci Junis was right behind her with 23 kills to finish the day.
    The next day, the Hawks bounced back against #25 Jones College and #7 Pensacola State College. Early in the day against Jones, the Hawks displayed dominance, sweeping the Bobcats 3-0 (25-19, 29-27, 26-24). The tight match was led by sophomore setter Brennan, who set the team up for success with 32 assists, 16 digs, and six aces. At the net, Detweiler displayed her aggressive gameplay with 12 kills and three blocks.
    Finishing out the tournament, the Hawks faced the Pensacola Pirates for a highly anticipated match against the #7 team in the nation and hosts of the competitive tournament. With another match came another 3-0 (25-29, 25-23, 25-22) victory with strong performances across the board. Brennan once again supported the team with 38 assists to end the week. Molehouse was all over the floor with 13 digs. Defensively, Moomaw was a wall at the net with four total blocks. Junis kept her play steady with 13 kills.

    The Hawks continue to improve and continue to be dominant on the court. After the intense week, Heartland will take the week to prepare for their upcoming weekend tournament. October 24th and 25th, the Hawks travel to Parkland College, where they will compete in the Region 24 & 4 Crossover before finishing the season on sophomore night the following week.
