The Hawks dominate the Heartland Invite

Heartland Volleyball bounced back after a midweek loss with a dominant performance at their own invite. The Hawks took down Milwaukee Area Tech, Ellsworth CC and Rock Valley College in dominant fashion, only losing two sets the entire tourney.

Game 1: No. 6 Heartland def. Milwaukee Area Tech, 3-0 (25-8, 25-11, 25-14)

This was the Hawks best performance of the weekend by far. All three sets were won easily, and outside hitter
Ava Yeakel was at the forefront of that with 16 kills. On defense, libero Kayleigh Keim led the charge with nine digs while middle block Elizabeth Schuster had two blocks at the net. Setter Reece Elaine Harrison was pivotal in setting up her teammates with 34 assists. Most impressively, the Hawks committed just three attack errors the entire match to give them a hitting percentage of .581.

Game 2: No. 6 Heartland def. Ellsworth CC, 3-1 (25-14, 25-12, 23-25, 25-7)

Heartland came out firing in their second game with two straight set wins with ease. They amassed 28 kills in those two sets while committing just six errors. The Hawks lost their footing a bit in the third set, committing nine attack errors and dropping the set 23-25. They put it back together in the third set by maybe playing their best set of the entire season in a dominant 25-7 win. They had 12 kills in 17 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .588.

Outside hitter
Elena Kvasnicka keeps stringing together good games, this time leading the charge with 10 kills in 19 total attempts. The Hawks put on a clinic of excellent serves, totaling 22 service aces. Keim had the most a Hawk has had this season with seven with Yeakel right behind her at six.

Game 3: No. 6 Heartland def. Rock Valley College, 3-1 (25-15, 25-17, 23-25, 25-11)

This match was much like the one against Ellsworth. The Hawks came out hot taking the first two sets with 24 kills. While the offense was great in set three with sixteen kills, they dropped that one. Set four, much like set four against Ellsworth, was domination for the Hawks. They had 13 kills at a .306 clip and only committed two errors.

Pacha led the charge in kills with 14 at an efficient .323 hitting percentage with Kvasnicka right behind her at 14 kills at a .407 hitting percentage. The serving was excellent once again for the Hawks with Elaine Harrison notching four and Keim having four. Middle Block
Lexie Robokoff was strong at the net with five total blocks too.

Heartland Volleyball's next match is another MWAC game against Lincoln Land CC tomorrow in Springfield, IL at 6:00 p.m.
