The tournament was held at the Corn Crib over two days, with a round-robin day one of play and the tournament championship held the following day. The Hawks were looking to walk away with two wins on day one to automatically advance to the championship game.
Game one was a matchup between the Hawks and the Snappers. The Heartland lineup was looking to break the tie after the two teams split their conference series during the regular season.
Trevor Rehnstrom threw six innings for the Hawks' defense. The sophomore held Spoon River to six runs on 11 hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Leading the Hawks at the plate were catcher
Daniel Bastidas and shortstop
Jimmy Anderson. The sophomores collectively added eight hits of the team's 29 with six runs plated and five runs batted in. The Hawks started game one hot and ran away with it, winning 16-6.
Game two was no different against the Lewis and Clark Trailblazers, where the offense made another strong performance, and
Dylan Nagle shut down the Snappers on the mound.
Chase Peterson led things off and led the lineup with three hits and two runs. Nagle threw five innings, facing 22 batters, allowing one run on five hits with a total of five strikeouts.
The Hawks returned the following day to the Corn Crib to face the Lewis and Clark Trailblazers for the Region 24 Championship. The Hawks were able to score six runs through four innings with a couple of home runs from the offense.
Dom Kooistra had a solo shot in the bottom of the first to put the first run on the board. In the following innings,
Jake Parpet had a three-run home run to increase the lead to four. The runs batted in were quiet until the fifth inning, when
Jake Troyner hit his 10th home run of the year for two runs. All-Region selection
Jake Gimbel started on the mound for the Hawks followed by sophomore right-handed pitcher
Ryan Anderson to complete the nine-inning game against the Trailblazers. Gimbel faced 29 batters in 6.2 innings pitched only allowing five runs with five strikeouts. Anderson ended things with two runs batted in with zero free bases given with one strikeout to end the game. The Hawks doubled the Trailblazers runs scored winning 14-7 to take home the Region 24 Championship.
