    Over the next couple of days, the Heartland Hawks, ranked #1 in Region 24, will host the District Tournament from May 14th through the 16th. The three Region 24 winners from each pod cross with the Region 16 winner, Moberly Area, to determine who will represent the Central District in the National Tournament

    The Heartland Hawks were the home team in game one against the Illinois Central College Cougars. Shutting down the Cougar offense was sophomore starter Jake Gimbel, who threw all five innings played. The lefty let up two runs on three hits without giving up a single walk and finished with nine strikeouts. The defense put in the work with 10 hits in 25 at-bats. Jimmy Anderson led the lineup with two hits and five RBIs on two home runs. One of the long shots ended the game in a walk-off win, making the final 12-2 in favor of the Hawks.

    The winner of the following game between the Parkland College Cobras and the Moberly Area Community College Greyhounds determines the Hawks' opponent on May 15th.
