Heartland Track Travel to Kansas for the NJCAA Indoor Championship

This weekend, on March 6th and 7th, the Heartland Hawks will travel to Topeka, Kansas, for a shot at an Indoor Title. Head Coach Johnathon Nowacki is ready for the competition. Coach comments on the expectation for the meet, "My only expectation is to leave it out there on the track and put the team into position to make the final during the prelim on Friday evening".

The runner participating in the meet is sophomore Kaleb Kilgore, who is taking part in the 800 meters. Kilgore, who has competed consistently throughout the winter, ranking 19th in the NJCAA and putting up strong times against some of the best. Kilgore has continued to improve over the past few months, setting another school record for the 800 at 1:51.98. As the Championship meet is set to showcase the best that the NJCAA has to offer, especially from larger schools than Heartland Community College. Coach Nowacki and Kilgore have done all the preparation they can by even traveling to Notre Dame to compete against multiple Division I runners, with Kilgore finishing 6th overall.

As Kilgore is gearing up to compete, Coach Nowacki has a strong feeling about how his runner will size up to the competition due to his work ethic and improvement, saying, "I'm feeling confident in Kaleb as he has continuously had good workouts and great races. I know he's going to leave everything out on the track and give himself the best chance to make the final."

Coach Nowacki makes a final statement on what he expects to come out of the weekend, "All the work has been done. My only expectation is to leave it out there on the track and put himself in a position to make the final prelim on Friday evening". Kilgore is set to compete today, March 6th, in hopes of continuing to the final tomorrow.
