    On Tuesday, March 10th, the Heartland Hawks played their 10th straight home game against the Bryant and Stratton College Bobcats. Coming off their sweep against conference opponent, the Danville Area Jaguars, the Hawks were looking to continue their momentum into their game under the clouds.

    The Bobcats were the first to score in the top of the first with a run that went unanswered by the Hawks until the second inning. Sophomore, Jake Troyner, drove in two runs from a single to center, sending home designated hitter, Dom Kooistra, and left fielder, Chase Peterson. With the game tied at 2 at the bottom of the third, TJ Jakubowski led things off with a line drive through the infield. Sending him home was Kooistra with a 347 ft homerun, putting the Hawks up by two. The Hawks and Bobcats continued to go back and forth, being scoreless or collecting a run in the last six innings. Going 3-for-3 on the day, Peterson was a run and a walk. TJ Jakubowski was also able to accumulate three hits in his five at-bats with two doubles coupled with an RBI. Altogether, the position players added 13 hits and six runs to finish the day. Starting on the bump for the Hawks was Dylan Nagle for an inning, where he faced six batters. The sophomore allowed one earned run on two hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Tyler Dowling pitched six innings in relief for the Hawks. The right-handed pitcher surrendered four hits and one earned run, striking out five and walking two. Finishing things off for the Hawks was freshman Devin Tupper, throwing for two innings. The right-handed pitcher faced six batters, allowing one hit and sat down two batters.

    The Hawks landed on top 6-3 and continue their six-game winning streak going into the weekend. Heartland Baseball's next contest is scheduled for Friday, March 13th, when they will travel to Parkland College for their second conference series, before returning to the Corn Crib on Saturday, March 14th.
