Heartland Soccer took a trip down south to compete in the Midwest South NJCAA Showcase in St. Louis, Missouri. The Men were set to face #10-ranked Pearl River Community College. The Women would follow, starting things off against #1-ranked Northwest Mississippi Community College.
After a hard-fought 90-minute match, the Men would fall just short at 2-3 against Pearl River. Leading the charge, sophomore
Xabi Santamaria was the lone Hawk to find the back of the net, unassisted, in the matchup.
Shortly after the Men walked off the field, the Women followed to face off against NW Mississippi. Two goals from Winger
Valeria Agudelo and one from Center Back
Erin Carr put the Hawks at three with assists from
Paula Igual and
Karima Marhabi. The Hawks were unable to respond to the Rangers' five goals.
After the trip, the Hawks are prepared for some rest before they host DI Southwestern Illinois College at the Corn Crib Sunday, September 7th.
