Last Night, the #6-ranked Hawks faced the #3-ranked Parkland in the first conference matchup of the 2025 season. With Heartland standing 5-1 and going undefeated at home, they were looking to increase and sustain the momentum they've created from the beginning. With the team's last match coming from the national tournament the previous year, the Hawks were eager to showcase their strengths and build on what had taken place in 2024.
Set one was a back-and-forth endeavor as Heartland and Parkland enjoyed taking turns to hold the lead. After dropping set one (23-15), the Hawks jumped right back up and never backed off, winning the match 3-1 (25-16, 25-15, 25-16). The presence at the net was the difference as the Hawks collected 57 kills compared to the Cobras' 41. A total of nine blocks were accumulated, and the defense picked up the rest with 102 total digs to end the night. Freshman
Addison Pacha added 17 kills to the night, and right behind her, #17
Libby Detweiler had 12 kills and 4 blocks. Setter
Brooklyn Brennan collected 44 assists with plenty of balls coming from Libero
Sam Molenhouse, who had 34 kills to round out the evening.
With this win, the Hawks improve their record to 6-1 and start things off at home, showing positivity for the future. Heartland rests for the day before they return on a road trip to Cedar Rapids, IA, for the Kirkwood Community College Tourney, where another top-ranked team is ready to compete.
