    Over the weekend, the Hawks traveled to Quincy, IL, to compete against the John Wood Community College Blazers, where the teams were able to capitalize in a major way. The women started things off and made quite the impression as they scored double digits once again, winning 10-0. The men followed with a strong performance, winning over the Blazers 4-0.
Women vs. John Wood
    Heartland women's soccer dominated from start to finish in their matchup against John Wood, cruising to a decisive victory behind an explosive offensive performance.
Karima Marhabi led the charge with four goals and two assists, while
Paula Igual chipped in a goal and two assists to fuel the attack.
Valeria Agudelo added two goals and two assists, and scoring contributions also came from
Dayana Tellez,
Josy Rogel, and
Carla Vizuete. The Hawks peppered the goal with 28 total shots, including 21 on target, and controlled the tempo with 11 corner kicks while holding their opponent to zero shots. With no cautions and a balanced team effort, Heartland showcased both discipline and firepower in the commanding win.
Men's Soccer
    The Heartland men's soccer team controlled every phase of play in a dominant shutout over John Wood.
Amin Zamani opened the match with two goals, while
Archie Etherington and
Guilherme Tomas each added tallies to seal the win. The Hawks' attack was relentless, generating 16 total shots, 10 on target, and converting on well-built scoring opportunities. On the other end, the defense held firm, surrendering just one shot and requiring only two saves to preserve the clean sheet. With strong ball movement and balanced play, Heartland showed depth across the pitch in the convincing victory.
    The September slate closed out on a high note for Heartland soccer, with both the men's and women's teams delivering dominant wins to wrap up the month. The men will look to keep that momentum rolling quickly as they return to action on Wednesday, while the women get a longer break in their schedule, not stepping back onto the field until October 9.
