    On September 25
th, the Hawks were ready to play at home as the women hosted #19 Lincoln Land Community College. The men's team followed shortly after as St. Clair County Community College traveled too Normal ready to compete.
Women vs. Lincoln Land
    The match consisted of high pressure and intense play all the way through the 90th minute. Heartland was steady offensively but unable to connect on multiple attempts. They kept the Logger's keeper busy with 30 shots, 14 of them on goal. It wasn't until the 68th minute that
Kelsey Lucas was able to score, assisted by
Karima Marhabi. With the 1-0 victory, the Hawks improved to 7-3-1. Their next match against John Wood Community College will be the final contest in September before they begin their October schedule on the 4th in St. Louis, MO.
Men vs. St. Clair County
    The men followed shortly after with another defense-heavy match between the two teams. Once again, the first half remained scoreless. Pressure mounted steadily throughout the second half, and the Skippers capitalized with two goals before the 90 minutes were up. The Hawks showed consistency on offense with five shots, two on goal, but they were unable to finish and fell 0-2 despite their high-intensity play. The Hawks will be on the road this weekend, traveling with the women to John Wood to face the Blazers.
