The freshman singled in the first and third inning before hitting a 2-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to enforce the run rule over Illinois Central College. Jacob O'Day, throwing all seven innings. The sophomore only allowed one run through the contest and collected a total of eight strikeouts in 25 batters faced. The defense was sound and didn't commit a single error.
