The Hawks take one over Carl Sandburg College in a quick nine-inning match-up at the Corn Crib. April 21st held a night game versus the Chargers which would be the seventh time these two teams have competed against one another. Heartland was looking to take another win as they have won every other contest prior.
The 31-12 Hawks extended their games won with an 11-1 victory over the Chargers. While Carl Sandburg opened the scoring, Heartland came back to capture the lead 2-1 in the bottom of the second after
Bennett Summers hit a sac fly and
Max Hennemann singled to center, each scoring one run. Summers led the Hawks with three RBIs going 1-for-4 on the night. The team showed impeccable patience as they collected 13 walks through the contest. Through eight innings the offense accumulated seven hits and three stolen bases. Defensively,
Ryan Anderson started things off at the mound only allowing four hits and one run over three innings. The right-handed freshman struck out one batter and never gave up a free base.
Patrick Gardner followed throwing three innings allowing three hits and no runs.
Lance Kiesewetter closed and was lights out throwing two innings with only one run allowed while adding five strikeouts in his appearance.
Heartland is off the rest of the week before hosting Parkland College in a conference matchup on Friday, April 25th.
