Heartland Women's Soccer Takes it to the End

    On November 20th, the #2 Heartland Hawks played for the opportunity to advance to the NJCAA DII National Championship match. Their opponent, #4 Holmes Community College, stood in the way of their chance to return to the Championship match since 2021.

    The first half was a strong back-and-forth play for possession and advancements. The Heartland Hawks broke up scoreless play with a goal from freshman Josy Rogel, with the assist coming from leading scorer Valeria Agudelo. It wasn't until the 78th minute that the Hawks were able to extend their lead to 2-0 with a goal from Agudelo that came from an assist by Karima Marihabi. The Hawks remain confident, but the Bulldogs were able to apply pressure with a goal in the last 8 minutes of the match. Unable to connect after their first goal, the Heartland Women's Soccer Team took the match 2-1. With the victory, the Hawks advance to the NJCAA DII National Championship Match.

    The Hawks are set to face the #1 Northeastern Mississippi Community College Tigers for the Title on Saturday, November 21st, in hopes of ending the season on a win.
