    This weekday match was held on a cool afternoon at the Corn Crib. The Heartland Hawks were set to face the Parkland Cobras in a rematch. The men were anxious for a redemption in the previous matchup, and the women were ready to play their game through the last minute.
Men vs. Parkland
    The men took to the pitch to start the night, and the tone of the match was quickly set as both teams demonstrated a strong offense, as well as pressure from their defense. The back-and-forth play shifted in favor of the Cobras, as they scored twice before the end of the first half. The Hawks continued to press throughout the match, collecting 13 shots on goal. One was able to find the back of the net towards the end of the match as
Xabi Santamaria assisted
Angelo Cuomo in his first goal of the season. Fighting till the last minute, the Hawks were unable to secure the comeback, falling to the Cobras 1-2.
Women vs. Parkland
    As the women took the field for a match under the lights, the intensity and anticipation were high as the Hawks were prepared to take on the Cobras in their second matchup of the season. The game was offense-heavy, coupled with a calculated defense that kept the Parkland offense to two shots compared to Heartland's 30.
Valeria Agudelo and
Karima Marhabi charged the offense with three goals apiece.
Anouk Van Maarle and Josey Rogel added on to the total, leaving their Thursday night with an 8-0 victory. The women remain at #3 in the national rankings and improve their record to 9-3-1.
    The men are set to return in a week for a home match against Waubonsee Community College. The women take a long break for a Lincoln Land Community College matchup on October 19th.
