For the final match before the postseason, the Hawks took on the Kellogg Community College Bruins in a home match on October 24th. Heartland was looking to improve its record to gain momentum for the Region 24 Tournament.
However, the Kellogg Bruins came prepared with a strong defense to hold off the Hawks' powerful offensive front, which they have showcased throughout the season. That being said, gaining shots on goal came as a difficult task as the Bruins were able to hold Heartland without a goal until the 78th minute. Out of the 10 shots on goal, the central midfielder,
Paula Igual, connected from an assist from
Erin Carr to bring the Hawks their 1-0 victory.
After a week's rest, the Hawks will host the Region 24 Tournament on October 31st in hopes of advancing to the District Championship that will follow the week after. Â
