Heartland Volleyball put on a strong performance Wednesday night, sweeping their opponent 3-0 (25-9, 25-17, 25-12) in front of a special crowd as they hosted local SOAR athletes. The Hawks totaled 38 kills, 10 aces, and 61 digs in the match, showcasing balance on both sides of the court.
Addison Pacha led the attack with 11 kills, while Brooklyn Brennan directed the offense with 29 assists. At the service line, AB delivered 4 aces, keeping the Jaguars on their heels, and Lexie Robokoff and Halle Moomaw each recorded 3 blocks at the net. Defensively, Sam Molenhouse anchored the back row with 20 digs, helping Heartland keep momentum in all three sets.
The night was about more than volleyball, though, as the Hawks partnered with SOAR to celebrate athletes from the local community. Head Coach Mary Frahm reflected on the occasion: "Any time we get the opportunity to work with the local SOAR athletes, it is always one of the highlights of our season. Not only are they great athletes, but each of those individuals are truly pure, kind and joyful humans who we just feel so thankful to interact with. It was an honor hosting them for our match, and we look forward to being able to attend one of their matches during their spring season."
With the sweep and the community connection, the Hawks capped the evening with a win both on and off the court. They have a couple of days to recoup before a big matchup against #13 Illinois Central College on Saturday, October 4th.Â
