Box Score 3 The men's soccer team was able to qualify for Nationals after taking the District Championship from Parkland College on November 9th. After going scoreless from both sides through 90 minutes of action and 20 minutes of overtime, the teams took to a PK shootout to determine who would compete in the 2024 Nationals. The Hawks took the victory going 5-4 in the shootout when keeper Nick Hardiman saved the final shot that solidified the win.
For the National Tournament the men were seeded 11th and ready to show what they had been working towards all season. They then traveled down to Huntsville, Alabama and competed in pool play for the chance to advance to regular play. For the first match-up, the Hawks would face #2 Neosho County who they had faced just weeks prior. After a scoreless first half, the Hawks were holding their own before Neosho scored in the 86th minute with a PK.
In the second round of pool play, the mens next competitor was #7 Pearl River Community College. In the first half, Pearl River set the tone with the only goal in the first half at the 35th minute. It wasn't until the second half that the Hawks would take command. Roshaun Reynolds was able to find the back of the net in the 66th minute with the assist coming from defender, Daniel Richards. As the match continued, possession remained primary with the Hawks. Then at the 86th minute, Segio Lopez would center the ball to Luca Hubner who was able to score to end the match with a 2-1 victory.
Unfortunately, the men did not make the cutoff to advance to tournament play. They ended in a great match that rounded out their winning season. Overall, the men finished with a winning season of 10-7-4. The Hawks outscored their opponents 47 to 30 goals averaging just over 2 goals per match. Their season was nothing short of successful and thank the players for making it a memorable one.
