The golf team opened up the 2022 campaign this past week, as the Hawks competed at Illinois State University's Weibring Golf Club on Aug. 29 before Illinois Central College played host to a match on Friday at Decatur's Red Tail Run Golf Course.
 
Mason Minkel paced Heartland in its opening match, as Minkel led the field with a -7 after completing 36 holes, which was good for eight strokes ahead of the second-place finisher. Harry Peterson (+6) also landed in the top 10 in fifth place for the Hawks out of 57 golfers. Below are the remainder of the Hawks' results from Weibring:

Minkel would again lead the Hawks on Friday in Decatur, as he finished the 36 holes at -9 and tied for first place before a tiebreaker put him in second place overall.
