Box Score 3 The Heartland soccer teams took to the road this past week, as they traveled to Illinois Central College on Wednesday before wrapping up the week at Parkland on Saturday. The men's team opened with a win over ICC before following that up with a victory over Parkland Saturday, while the women's squad ended the week 1-1 after defeating Parkland Saturday.

Freshman forward
Jino Agbassa ignited the men's team throughout the week, as he finished with six goals across the two contests.
Agbassa got the scoring started at ICC on Wednesday, as he knocked in a goal in the 52
nd minute to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead. The Cougars would tie things shortly after with a goal before
Caleb Luna found
Agbassa again for what would be the game-winning netter in the 72
nd minute. Heartland finished with 14 shots, 8Â of which were on goal in the 2-1 win.

Agbassa followed up his clutch performance at ICC with an even better display on Saturday at Parkland, as he contributed 4 goals on 7 shots in the 6-5 victory over the No. 15-ranked Cobras. Parkland got on the board first in the 10
th minute before
Agbassa found the net in the 23
rd minute. The Cobras would take a 2-1 lead into halftime, but
Agbassa was not finished yet. He scored goals in the 47
th and 55
th minute to put the Hawks out in front at 3-2.
Raul Sanchez then scored in the 65
th minute to extend the lead to 4-2. Parkland followed up with three straight goals, before
Agbassa tied things at 5-5 on an assist by
Santiago Etcheverry in the 87
th minute. Moments later,
Emilio Madrigal netted what would ultimately be the game winner in the 88
th minute to improve the Hawks' record to 3-1 on the young season.

The women's team opened up the week a bit slower, as the Hawks were unable to find the net in a 1-0 loss at ICC on Wednesday. Heartland had 10 shots in the game, 6 of which were on goal. Goalkeeper
Sofia Mosquera Chaverra finished with 6 saves. The lone goal of the game came by ICC in the 7
th minute.

Heartland would bounce back on Saturday, however, with a 3-1 victory at No. 16-ranked Parkland.
Zara Dominguez opened the scoring for the Hawks in the 18
th minute on an assist by
Lydia Madrid to give Heartland a 1-0 advantage, which would hold until halftime.
Lina Lopez followed that with two straight goals, one in the 64
th minute on an assist by
Elsa Jove, and the other in the 75
th minute. The Hawks finished with 19 shots, 8 of which were on goal.
Mosquera Chaverra concluded the week with an impressive 10 saves.

The men's team will return home at 6 pm Wednesday, where they will welcome Lewis and Clark to the Corn Crib. Both squads will then be in action on Saturday at home against John Wood, with the women kicking things off at 12 pm, followed by the men's at 2 pm.
