Box Score 4 Heartland soccer continued its stellar play this past week, as both the men's and women's teams improved their respective winning streaks. Beginning Sept. 17 with an 11-0 win for the women's squad at Lincoln Land, the Hawks swept the week with four more victories.

The women's team took very little time to get on the scoreboard at Lincoln Land, and never looked back. The Hawks jumped out to a 6-0 advantage at halftime, and added five more goals in the second frame to leave Springfield with the victory.
Lina Lopez (3 goals, 2 assists) and
Zara Dominguez (3 goals, 4 assists) led the way for the Hawks. Eve Navarez finished with 2 goals, while
Sherlyn Avalos and
Carla Gimenez each found the net once. Goalie
Sofia Mosquera contributed 8 saves for Heartland.

Heartland then welcomed No. 14-ranked Southwestern Illinois College to the Corn Crib on Wednesday in a much tighter matchup, with the Hawks escaping with a 1-0 victory. Lopez accounted for the lone goal of the game in the 44
th minute off of an assist by Dominguez. Mosquera finished with 4 saves.

A rivalry matchup was in store Saturday for the Hawks, as No. 12-ranked Parkland College entered the Corn Crib. In another close contest, the Hawks ultimately prevailed 2-1 over the Cobras. Nevarez ignited the scoring for Heartland with a goal in the 12
th minute off of a
Maria Paladino assist before Dominguez found the net in the 21
st minute, with
Elsa Jove contributing the assist. The lone goal for Parkland came in the 59
th minute. Mosquera had 4 saves for the Hawks on the afternoon.

The men's team was able to extend its winning streak to seven last week, with wins over SWIC and Parkland to improve to 7-1. The Hawks shutout SWIC on Wednesday 4-0, with
Jino Agbassa pouring in 2 goals in the 8
th and 55
th minutes.
Alex Benitez (21

th minute) also found the net for the Hawks. Goalie
Gonzalo Castells contributed 6 saves for Heartland.

The Hawks rounded-out the week with a 1-0 victory over No. 16-ranked Parkland Saturday evening. The lone goal of the game came in the 13
th minute, as
Emilio Madrigal scored what would ultimately be the game-winning shot. Castells added 2 saves for the Hawks.

The men's squad will welcome Illinois Central College for a 6 pm matchup on Wednesday at the Corn Crib, before both teams travel to John Wood Community College on Saturday.
