The Heartland volleyball team had a busy week, as the Hawks faced-off with Spoon River College on Wednesday evening before traveling to Parkland College for a four-match tournament on Friday and Saturday.

The Hawks were able to get off to a quick start on Wednesday against the Snappers, as they dominated set one 25-9 en route to a 3-0 win.
Kaitlin Dean paced the Hawks with 10 kills and 9 digs.
Kennedy Conrad added 16 digs, while
Samantha Hovey finished with 25 assists on the night.

No. 6-ranked Iowa Central Community College was the foe for the Hawks' opening match at Parkland Friday morning. After splitting each of the first four sets, the Hawks rallied for a 15-11 victory in set five to take home the win. Dean finished the contest with 18 kills. Conrad once again had 16 digs, while Hovey supplied 46 assists.

After narrowly dropping set one to No. 5-ranked Owens Community College in Friday's second game, the Hawks gathered three straight set wins to defeat the Express. Conrad had 27 digs in the contest, with Kaitlin Conway adding 20 digs. Hovey finished with 41 assists, while Dean tossed in 13 kills and 13 digs.

Heartland returned to Parkland Saturday for two more matchups, the first of which came against Des Moines Area Community College. The Hawks were able to sweep their opening contest of the day, with Dean and
Emma Harper each supplying 10 kills apiece. Hovey added 32 assists.

The final match of the tournament came Saturday afternoon against No. 7-ranked Kirkwood Community College. After a tightly-contested first set win, the Hawks won each of the final two sets to sweep the tournament and improve to 16-4 on the season. Hovey again led Heartland in assists with 44, with Conrad adding 14 digs. Dean finished with 12 kills.

The Hawks will return to Parkland to face-off with the No. 3-ranked Cobras at 6 pm Wednesday.
