The Hawks' soccer teams hosted Bryant and Stratton College in two games on Wednesday night. Both teams came into the week ranked in the top 20 in the nation. The men, who defeated ICC last week, came into the week ranked #16. The women, who brought home their first win of the season last week against Waubonsee, came into the week ranked #19.
The men kicked off Wednesday's games against the Bobcats. The Hawks got on the board early with a goal by sophomore,
Daniel Trojman.
Ignacio Torres then put the Hawks up 2 with a goal of his own. Just a few minutes after, Trojman put the Hawks up 3 on his second goal of the night. Putting the Hawks up 4 was freshman,
Wyatt Berg and scoring right before the half was freshman,
Ozman Ochoa. The Hawks went into the half up 5-0.
In the second half, sophomore and captain,
Loris Granier, put the Hawks up 6 and scored his first goal of the season on a free kick. Scoring the Hawks' last goal of the night and his second goal of the game, was Torres.
Alexander Schulze and
Marco Iniguez combined for the shutout as the Hawks took home a 7-0 win.
The women came out hot in game two as freshman,
Lucia Cuadra, scored the first goal of the game. Cuadra scored again in the 25
th minute to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead headed into halftime. The Bobcats scored to cut the lead to one, but Cuadra quickly scored to give the Hawks back a 2-goal lead. With her third goal of the game, Cuadra brought home a hat trick with 30 minutes still left in the game. In the final ten minutes, the Hawks exploded for three more goals.
Alicia Martinez,
Irene Robles and
Montserrat Alsina all chipped in goals and the Hawks brought home a 6-1 win in game two.
