Women's Soccer Yields Home Loss Against Illinois Central College
Late Goal by Makayla Stockov not Enough for the Hawks
NORMAL, Illinois - Late game heroics by forwards
Makayla Stockov and
Joah Howland brought the Hawks within inches of bringing home their second win of the 2018 season last night at the Corn Crib.Â
The season hasn't gone to favor the Hawks this Fall, with last night's loss against ICC bringing the Hawks to 1-10 on the season. Even with the pitfalls of the year, the Hawks continue to grind for 90 minutes and continually attack the net. It was that grit that brought the Hawks within one goal of the Panthers on a goal scored by
Makayla Stockov in the 89th minute, a goal that wouldn't have happened without the perfect centering pass from freshman
Montanna Stewart.
It was a mere 40 seconds later in the match that Danville, Illinois native
Joah Howland found herself on a breakaway with the chance to score the game-tying goal and bring home a point on the draw. The Panthers were quick to pressure the attack, and ICC goaltender Christy Torrey swallowed up the shot by Howland. ICC would go on to hold off the Hawks to take the 2-1 win to stay undefeated in Midwest Athletic Conference (MWAC) play.Â
The Hawks return home on Thursday, October 11, 2018 to take on Lindenwood University. Match time is set for 6:00 PM (CST) at the Corn Crib. Admission to all home games is free. Â
