No. 5 Heartland vs. Illinois Central College, Final Score – 3-3
There was no shortage of offense last Friday when Illinois Central came to town to face women's soccer in a game that ended in a 3-3 draw after two late goals from the Cougars. CAM
Jasmin Geronimo scored a highlight reel goal in the first half after she dribbled between two defenders and left another one in the dust before rifling a shot from far out to put the Hawks up in the first half. It was quiet the rest of the half and went into halftime with the Hawks up 1-0. The cougars tied it out of the break before forward
Ava LaFollette delivered two goals to put the Hawks up 3-1 with 8 minutes remaining. The Cougars rallied for two goals late to stun the Hawks with a draw.
The Hawks were clicking on offense with 18 total shots on the day. LaFollette had a team-high five SOG with Geronimo and forward
Desiree Fassin trailing right behind her with three. Geronimo and Fassin both added assists to their names as well.
Heartland will be on the pitch again this Thursday when they travel to face Parkland College in an MWAC game at 2:00 p.m.
