    Softball takes on John Wood for the final games of the 2025 season. This day was filled with sophomore recognition and dominance in the field and at the plate. The Hawks took two games to move their final record to 17-24-1. Through both contests, Heartland accumulated 17 runs on 18 hits. 

    The Hawks jumped on the Blazers early in the first game and never looked back. The first inning brought on six runs which helped them take game one 8-0. First baseman Kendyl Hurt led Heartland at the plate with two hits in three at-bats. The righty also drove in two runs while collecting one herself. Kaitlyn Robinson showed up with a hit and two RBIs. Patience was also a strong attribute for the Hawks as they earned four free bases in 20 at-bats. Cara Farnam took the mound for the Hawks throwing a perfect game allowing no runs and no hits without a freebase allowed. The sophomore pitcher ended the season with a bang collecting five strikeouts. The defense sat behind Farnam making 10 plays in the field.  
    Heartland picked off right where they left off in game one taking the contest over the Blazers with a score of 9-1. The Hawks were slower to get things going as the contest remained at 1-1 until the third when Concetta DeBord singled bringing in Kaitlyn Robinson. DeBord led the Hawks with three hits in three ABs. Erin Anderson stayed hot going 2-for-2 with two runs and a walk. The team collected 12 hits with Immke contributing with two triples on the day. Brooklyn Ogden took the win for the Hawks pitching the last 4.2 innings and facing 15 batters. The right-handed sophomore only allowed one hit and no runs with a total of five strikeouts to end the game. 

    The next stop for the Hawks is post-season play and they're gearing up to become the last MWAC team standing.
