The Heartland baseball team extended its winning streak to seven on Friday, as the Hawks secured an 8-3 victory at Triton College. The Hawks (25-10, 16-4) registered 12 hits in the win, yielding just five hits defensively.
Â
Corey Boyette ignited the scoring in the first, as he launched a two-run homer to right field to score
TJ Williams and the Hawks led 2-0 in the early-going. An error by the Trojans and a Williams two-run single extended the lead to 5-0 in the third.
Â
Triton would score once in the bottom of the third and twice more in the fourth to narrow the deficit to 5-3, but that was all the home team could muster. Williams drove in two more runs in the fifth on a line drive single to make it 7-3.
Brady Davidson added an RBI-single in the seventh to push the lead to 8-3, which held as the final score.
Â
Williams finished with three hits and four RBI's for the Hawks. Boyette, Davidson and
Jesse Contreras had two hits apiece.
Â
The Hawks return to The Corn Crib for a clash with South Suburban College at 3:30 pm on Tuesday.
