Volleyball Wraps Up Regular Season Competition and Gears Up for Post-Season

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 Volleyball is gearing up for the post season as they finish the regular season with a 34-6 record. Over the course of the month, the Hawks have only let up 3 matches while showing dominance throughout tournament and conference play. On offense, the women are outscoring their opponents in kills with 1,790 to 1,274. Leading the Hawks in kills with 370 is Sophomore Middle Hitter Mairen Mannon while averaging 1.11 blocks per set. Freshman setters Brooklyn Brennan and Addison Qualters have contributed a total of 1,434 assists during the season setting up the attackers to finish the job. Defensively, Libero Sam Molenhouse is showing up by adding a total of 621 digs throughout the season.

"This group has competed in service to one another, with a level of commitment I've not in a team at Heartland yet," Heartland Head Coach Mary Fraham said. "They've been present through each chapter of the season, and completely focused on the process of becoming great as both individuals and a team. They've bought into the coaching staff's vision, they've challenged us with the talent and skills they each possess and most importantly given us a gift of truly enjoying the personalities of each player on a daily basis."

Following the end of season, Volleyball MWAC Awards have been released and are as follows:
MWAC Player of the Year: Mairen Mannon
MWAC All-Conference: Rhiannon Robertson
MWAC All-Conference: Sam Molenhouse

As the women gear up for the post-season, their tough competition throughout the season has prepared them for what's to come. "Looking to the post-season, the plan won't be any different," says Fraham. "We hope to take the experiences that we've had as a preparation to face the tough competition we know we're going to see. As long as they continue to lead with our values, I will continue to feel pride every time I step on the court with this team."

The women will start post-season play with the Region 24/16 Central District B Tournament on the 8th of November at Illinois Central College. They will face East Central College at 2 o'clock followed by the Championship match if they win the first match-up.
