The Heartland baseball team traveled to Florida for its annual spring break trip this past week, as the Hawks played eight games across five days in the Orlando area. The trip stretched from March 10-15, and concluded with an 8-0 record for the Hawks, who improved to 14-1 on the season.

Day 1- March 11
Heartland opened the week with a doubleheader on March 11 against Northern Essex Community College. After trailing 3-0 early in game one, the Hawks used a seven-run third inning to maintain a 10-5 advantage. A
Corey Boyette run in the sixth frame extended the lead to 11-5, which would hold as the final score. Boyette (2-4, 2 R) and
Mark Kattula (2-3, 4 RBI) led the charge for the Hawks in the opening game.

Game two of the day saw the Hawks explode for 19 runs in a 19-8 rout over the Knights.
Sam Antonacci,
Matt Santarelli and
TJ Williams all contributed multi-hit games for the Hawks, who scored eight runs in the sixth frame. Antonacci and
Daniel Mosele both slugged home runs for Heartland in the win.

Day 2- March 12
The offensive firepower would continue for Heartland into day two, as the Hawks exploded for 16 hits en route to a 23-0 win over Bucks County Community College on March 12.
Bobby Atkinson led the way for the Hawks in the victory, finishing 2-4 with 2 home runs and 6 RBIs.
Ben Hartl (3-5, 3 R, 2 RBI), Galien Coupet (2-4, 1 RBI, 1 R) and Mosele (2-3, 3 R) also finished with multi-hit games.
Isaiah Jackson was credited with the win after tossing 4 innings, while yielding just 1 hit and 1 walk. Jackson also struck out 5 in the game.

The Hawks would return shortly after to face-off with Waubonsee Community College in a battle that was ultimately decided by a late-inning surge by the Hawks to capture a 6-5 victory. After trailing 5-4 entering the eighth frame, the Hawks rallied for two runs to jump in front 6-5. Boyette started the surge for Heartland with a single up the middle, and advanced to third on a Santarelli double moments later. Mosele then scored Boyette on a sacrifice fly before
Aidan McNamee delivered a clutch single to give the Hawks the lead.
Will Fletcher closed the door for the Hawks in the ninth, as the freshman struck out the side to secure the victory.

Day 3- March 13
Day three saw Heartland battle Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ)-Cumberland, with the Hawks emerging victorious once again with a 5-1 win. After trailing 1-0 early, a two-run double by McNamee put Heartland out in front 3-1 in the fourth inning. A double by Antonacci in the following frame extended the advantage further, as Antonacci would eventually score on a miscue by RCSJ-Cumberland's catcher to make it 5-1 through five.
Luke Wright and
Kyle Anderson combined to allow just 2 hits and 1 walk on the mound, while compiling 7 strikeouts.

Day 4- March 14
The Hawks continued the momentum into day four, as the Hawks gathered 11-1 and 15-1 wins over Rockland Community College. Heartland combined for 28 hits on the day, while allowing just 4 hits on the defensive side. Nine Hawks contributed multiple hits across the two contests, with Williams leading the charge after finishing a perfect 5-5 with 4 runs on the day.

Day 5-March 15
The trip concluded with a matchup against SUNY-Adironack, ultimately ending in a 14-2 route by the Hawks. Antonacci and Kattula both supplied three-hit games, with Antonacci lacing a three-run homer in an 11-run fifth inning for Heartland. Atkinson, Santarelli and Hartl also finished with multi-hit games for Heartland, who improved to 14-1 on the season.
