Box Score 2 The Hawks softball team continued play this week as they hosted Illinois Central College in a double header on Wednesday.
The Cougars came in to Wednesday's double header ranked #15 in the NJCAA DII polls, but this didn't faze the Hawks. The Hawks took an early lead in game one and never looked back. The offense was led by sophomore,
Charlie Sartoris, who had 4 RBIs and 2 hits, one of which was a homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning. Sophomore,
Macey McElravy, also chipped in 2 RBIs.
The defense was led by freshman,
Olivia Baker, who threw a complete game for the Hawks. In her seven innings pitched, Baker allowed only 3 runs and collected 7 strikeouts. Baker earned her third win of the season as the Hawks soared to a 9-3 victory.
In game two, the Hawks had to fight back from an early 2-0 deficit.

Olivia Schultz,
Morgan Boward and McElravy all chipped in 2 hits in the comeback. Freshman,
Brandy Ogden, also came up clutch with a 3 RBI homerun in the bottom of the fifth inning to build the Hawks' lead.
Pitching led the Hawks' defense once again as sophomore,
Alyssa Webb, threw a complete game for the Hawks. Webb allowed only 5 hits and 2 runs in her seven innings pitched. Webb also collected seven strikeouts in the effort. Webb improved to 3-1 on the season as the Hawks took home a 6-2 win.
The Hawks were set to kick off MWAC (Midwest Athletic Conference) play on Saturday with a double header against Lewis & Clark Community College. The games were canceled due to weather and will be rescheduled for a later date.
The Hawks' record improves to 10-4 after another week of play. The Hawks are back in action March 30
th and 31
st with two more home double headers against Madison College and John Wood Community College.
