Hawks Dominate Second Half with Three Goals

Box Score Normal, Illinois - It was a stellar performance from the men's soccer team in their first game of the 2019 season. South Suburban College made the trip from South Holland to central Illinois over the weekend, and the Hawks were definitely up for the challenge. The final score ended up not even being a close one as the Hawks put together three goals in the second half to top the Bulldogs, 4-0.

The Hawks put up eleven total shots in the first half, six being on goal, and they really valued the ball well as they held onto possession for most of the game. The lone goal in the first half came from Heriberto Garza at the 22' minute. The home side headed into halftime with a 1-0 lead, but you could tell they felt their score should have been higher.

Not even two minutes into the second half, Ignacio Torres received a beautiful cross from Bryan Alfaro. Ignacio was in perfect position and finished with an easy shot right in front of the keeper. That would not be the last we would hear from Torres, however, as eleven minutes later he knocked in his second goal of the match. He finished with a scoreline of seven shots taken, six on goal, two through the net and one assist to Daniel Trojman for the last goal at the 84' mark.

Must note: Roberto Coria from South Suburban College picked up a yellow card at the 71' minute and had to leave the game.

The Hawks have nine days until their next match of the season. They will face Lincoln Land Community College in their first Mid-West Athletic Conference play of the year. Kick-off is on Wednesday, September 4th at 4:00 PM in The Corn Crib.
