Krystal Goodman was named the Head Softball Coach at Heartland Community College on August 17, 2024. She enters her third season leading the Hawks in 2026-27.
Goodman’s second season (2026) showed strong progress from a young roster that included eleven freshmen. One of the season’s highlights was an extra-inning thriller against No. 19 Illinois Central, where the Hawks earned an 8-7 victory. Heartland also upset No. 21 Danville Area Community College in the Region 24 Tournament to advance to the championship game. Under Goodman’s leadership, the Hawks produced another four All-MWAC selections during the season.
Goodman earned her first career win as head coach on March 2, 2025, against Jefferson College. The 2025 season featured several key accomplishments, including a sweep of No. 18 Danville Area, another ranked victory over No. 24 Parkland, and a no-hitter from sophomore Cara Farnam against John Wood College to close out the regular season.
The season also highlighted the emergence of sophomore Shayne Immke, who became Goodman’s first All-American at Heartland. Immke ranked among the top 30 nationally in home runs, batting average, and runs batted in, earning NFCA Second Team All-American honors, First Team Midwest All-Region recognition, and MWAC Player of the Year. The Hawks also had four All-MWAC selections under Goodman’s direction.
Goodman joined Heartland from Radford University, where she served as an assistant coach at the NCAA Division I level. She previously held an assistant coaching position at the University of Southern Mississippi.
As a player, Goodman competed at Chipola College (Marianna, Florida) and the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa, Alabama). At Chipola, she was a two-time First Team All-American and the NJCAA Division I Pitcher of the Year. She was later inducted into the FCSAA Softball Hall of Fame in 2024 in recognition of her outstanding junior college career. At Alabama, she made two Women’s College World Series appearances and finished her collegiate career as a two-time SEC Champion. She also played professionally in Italy and the Netherlands.
Goodman holds a Master of Science in Sport Management from the University of Southern Mississippi, a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Information Sciences from the University of Alabama, and an Associate of Arts from Chipola College. She also serves as a Success Coach for Heartland students.
