Coach Alex Trent is originally from Lawrence, Kansas. Trent played at Iowa Western (2014-2016) before transferring to Ottawa University (2016-2018). He continued to pursue professional opportunities until ultimately injuries derailed his career as a player. Trent joined Mike Brown in returning to Iowa Western as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator in 2019 for the men’s soccer program after his former coach at Iowa Western, Jordan Carver left for new opportunities. Trent was instrumental in revitalizing the program and left after the Spring season in 2022 in which the men were national tournament finalists and achieved the highest team GPA in NJCAA men’s soccer history. Trent came to Heartland from Orlando City SC where he was a member of the high performance staff. Â
