Heartland men's soccer was on the road for two contests last week, as the Hawks battled Parkland College on Thursday before traveling to Southwestern Illinois College on Saturday. Despite a valiant effort, Heartland would ultimately fall to Parkland 2-0. Two second half goals ignited the Hawks to a 2-2 draw at SWIC as they moved to 4-4-3 overall on the season.

Game 1 @ Parkland
A goal in each half boosted NJCAA DII No. 9-ranked Parkland College to a 2-0 victory over Heartland on Thursday. Parkland's William Arana scored on a Hidenori Akasaka assist in the 15
th minute before Akasaka found the net in the 61
st minute for the Cobras. The Hawks outshot the Cobras 11 to eight on the evening, but were plagued by 24 committed fouls in the contest. Heartland goalkeeper

Game 2 @ SWIC
The second match of the week saw the Hawks travel to Belleville, Ill. to take on Southwestern Illinois College. In a closely contested matchup throughout, a goal by
Tomas Barros in the 81
st minute off of a
Jhaeem Bryan assist gave the Hawks a 2-1 lead. The Blue Storm had an answer in order, however, as the home team scored with just two minutes remaining in the contest to secure a 2-2 draw.

SWIC's Cam Watts opened the scoring with a goal in the 14
th minute to give the Blue Storm a 1-0 advantage. Heartland entered the scoring column in the 65
th minute, as
Raul Oliu connected with
Mohammad Sanyang to tie things at 1-1. Lambert contributed two saves for the Hawks on the afternoon.

The Hawks will return to action at 6 pm Thursday for a face-off with Parkland before going on the road again for a 2 pm kickoff Saturday at John Wood Community College.
