Women's Soccer Take Two of Last Three

Hawks Surpass Win Total from Last Year

Normal, Illinois - The Hawks improved to a 4-1 record on the season over the last week and a half. They came away with victories against Waubonsee Community College and Parkland College, but they fell short against Indian Hills Community College - Ottumwa. Below is a breakdown of the goals scored in each of those three contests:

Waubonsee CC - 08/31
- Hawks won the match 2-1.
- Kayla James scored her 2nd and 3rd goals of the year with assists coming from Irene Robles and Montanna Stewart.
- Marisa VanWyhe scored with an assist by Anaka Carlson.

Parkland College - 09/03
- Hawks won the match 3-2 with an overtime goal scored in the 95' minute by Kayla James. That game-winning goal was her 4th goal on the season.
- Joana Aguilar recorded her 1st score of the year with an assist by Irene Robles.
- Lexia Aranda assisted Alicia Martinez for her 3rd goal of the year.
- Maria Jorquera scored both of the two goals for Parkland.

Indian Hills CC - 09/07
- Hawks lost 7-3 for their first loss of the 2019 campaign.
- The Warriors scored two goals in the first half. The points came from Avery Woldruff and Yui Okamoto.
- Kayla James scored (5) in the 53' minute, but the Warriors retaliated with a goal by Julie Gouilliart in the 56'.
- A minute later, Kayla James recorded her 6th goal and closed the gap to one.
- However, Emily Murphy from Indian Hills dropped in two scores in a span of two minutes to make it a 5-2 lead for the Warriors.
- Irene Robles notched her 4th goal of the year with a shot at the 68' mark.
- Georgia Lindon made it a 6-3 lead at the 73' minute, and Emily Murphy pulled out the hat trick ten minutes later to close the door on the Hawks.


The Lady Hawks travel to Godfrey, IL today to take on Lewis & Clark Community College for another MWAC matchup. Kick-off is set for 4:00 PM.
